Social Media Community Guidelines
Our social media channels are a place for us to:
- Communicate with people in the insurance industry.
- Increase awareness of the support we offer.
- Share resources and information about how to access said support.
Many of the issues we discuss involve sensitive personal circumstances, financial wellbeing, and emotional challenges. We want our social media channels to remain welcoming, respectful, and safe for everyone. These guidelines apply to comments, messages and interactions that take place on The Insurance Charity’s official social media channels.
Engaging with our Content
Please follow these guidelines:
If you require support from The Insurance Charity, please contact us through our official support channels rather than sharing personal circumstances on social media.
- Be respectful of others and their perspectives.
- Do not make personal attacks in your comments or share any personal information.
- Do not post /comment anything that could be libellous or defamatory.
- If you make an accusation against a named person, for example, a member of staff, we will hide it.
- Do not post / comment adverts for commercial products or services.
- Do not post / comment repeatedly about issues that are off topic.
- Do not post / comment content that is hateful in any way.
Moderation
Our social media channels are monitored Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm UK time. Comments or messages submitted outside these hours may not receive an immediate response.
We welcome constructive feedback and discussion. However, comments that are abusive, threatening, defamatory, discriminatory, or deliberately misleading may be removed. On rare occasions, we may block users from our pages. If you feel you have been unfairly blocked, then please use the contact form on our website to get in touch.

The Insurance Charity on Social Media
We are currently only active on LinkedIn (follow our page!), but we reserve the right to expand to additional channels in the future. These guidelines will apply to those as well.
If you see something on our social media channels that doesn’t seem right or that makes you feel uncomfortable, please do make us aware.
