Working with
HR teams

The Insurance Charity can help HR teams to improve their productivity and increase the support they offer their colleagues.

As a trusted partner, you can signpost employees to us for financial and practical support, including those who’re facing redundancy, or have retired from your organisation.

We work throughout the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands, and support people from across the industry no matter their job role. That includes people working in an insurance specific role like underwriting or broking, as well as people working in IT, marketing, or customer support.

Providing their role or employer is insurance-related and the applicant meets our eligibility criteria, we can support them.

We offer financial assistance for as long as it’s needed. This can include ongoing or one-off payments and, in some cases, a charitable loan.

Here are some examples of things we fund:

  • equipment to help with reduced mobility.
  • day-to-day hardship relief.
  • property adaptation that can’t be funded by local or central government.
  • household appliances and furniture.
  • funeral expenses.
  • school uniforms.
  • family holidays.
  • counselling/rehabilitation.
  • essential property maintenance.

Applicants can apply directly through a simple online form, so HR teams don’t need to get involved directly.

If you think a colleague could benefit from our support, please signpost them to our website. Once we’ve received an application, we’ll contact them outlining next steps.

Applications are confidential, so applicants will only need to speak to their employer if they’re unable to provide evidence of employment by any other means.

We can also refer beneficiaries to Shelter UK if they have a complex housing issue, to provide a quick and no-cost route to access vital help and advice.
